A dream village built
at the foot of the Prophet Elias (the second highest mountain) in the
north-western coast of Rhodes. The Salakos uniquely combines mountain and sea
and is famous for its delicious walnuts.
In the center of the
village is a cobbled square with fig trees and running water. The tradition
still prevails. Grandmothers with scarves head grind wheat, bulgur spread in
the sun to dry or bake "bun" in wood ovens, like old times.
The Salakos is the
perfect retreat for a relaxing family holiday. Sources will fascinate you with
the gurgling water (the main reason why the area has rich vegetation), while
the olive groves and vineyards complement the idyllic landscape. Also create
the ideal conditions to flourish butterfly Panaxia, the same kind found in the
Valley of the Butterflies.
Besides the walnuts,
the village is famous for its climate, which is considered one of the
healthiest in Greece. You can bring your kids here,to swim in the clear blue
waters of the beach Kameiros while you slowly get a beautiful, tropical tan ,
enjoying a refreshing drink and a plate of Greek cuisine in one of the
taverns all along the beach.
In the village of
Salako, there are countless beauties waiting for you to discover and enrich
your vacation on the island of Rhodes.
